Eggs are occasionally received from PokéStops. They can be placed into Incubators and then hatched by walking a certain distance. Once you have walked that distance, the egg will hatch, revealing a Pokémon to add to your collection; along with a large amount of candies for that Pokémon type.
Rewards
Hatching an egg yields the following rewards:
- A Pokémon
- 5-32
, depending on the type of egg. - A large amount of Stardust.
- 200, 500, or 1000 experience points based on egg distance (can be doubled by using a Lucky Egg)
Types
Professor Willow discovered that the color of the eggs change depending on how far you have to have to walk to hatch the egg. He has also noted special eggs being given inside of Gifts.

2km Eggs
Hatching one of these eggs will reward you with 200 EP and about 7-15 
of the pokémon you hatched, plus 10 times the stardust of the candy you got.
