Level

A trainer with their level and XP

During normal play, the player will gain Experience Points (XP) by engaging in various activities in-game. The amount of XP the player has determines their Trainer Level. As the trainer's level increases, higher-level Pokémon can be found in the wild. The current maximum level a player can get is 40. Each time a player levels up, rewards are given based on what level has been achieved. The maximum CP of your Pokémon will also depend on your trainer level.

Gaining XP[]

XP can be gained through various in-game actions. Capturing Pokémon, hatching Eggs, interacting with PokéStops, and battling rival Gyms are the most common methods of obtaining XP. If the player has used a Lucky Egg, any XP gained in a 30-minute period afterwards is doubled.
